Perry has the father of actor Laurie Metcalf, and Jeff Perry. In the ABC sitcom Roseanne (as seen by flashback) Her mother played Jackie Harris in two of Perry's first TV roles. But her parents would not let her perform until she was an adult, for fear of the negative effects that stress could affect their child. Perry states that she did not want to be an actor in high school, but she decided to begin performing as a form of social interaction at Northwestern University when she switched to the university from Boston University. Perry made her debut with New York after graduation, getting small parts on Law & Order: Criminal Intent. But homesickness made Perry go back to California to work as an actress in the theater. The Other Place was performed by her and her mom on Broadway in 2013 Kevin McKidd, her father Kevin McKidd performed in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Anna Christie with her in 2015. In the year 2016, Perry appeared on nine episodes on ABC's drama The Family. In 2017, Perry starred in a role on ABC's political thriller Scandal with her father. In addition, she played in the role of a older Mary Cooper in Young Sheldon - an CBS spin-off from The Big Bang Theory. The role was selected by auditions, even the fact that she had a deep association with it.
