Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American actress, singer and songwriter for several years. Her mother raised her in the USA and she was subject to several racial stereotypes, which left her feeling like a non-person. It was in her ninth grade when she began to gain confidence after receiving a rousing ovation during an audition. She not only gained confidence because of the experience, but she also changed career goals. At the age of 22, she received her degree from the Julliard School of New York. In 1993, she made her Broadway debut with Paul Simon's The Capeman. Her first film was You've Got Mail. Her greatest break came in her role as The Lady of The Lake in the first Broadway version of Spamalot. She won the Tony Award and received great praise for the role. The following year, in 2007, she was a cast member in the ABC show Grey's Anatomy and became more famous. Known as a singer she also released a single and an extended show. Also, she's been a vocal advocate for LGBT issues.
